Infected Mushroom - I Wish

I wish to give, to take, to make, to check, I wanna see it happen

I want to see, to be, the one that plays the game without no fears and regrets

I want to know you, better than I know myself

I want to feel the end, and to enjoy the consequence

I'm playing the game

the one that will take me to my end

I'm waiting for the rain...

to wash who I am

I want to move, to loose, to take the grooves, and to give it all back

I want to take the time rewind, and to kick it rightfrom the start

to be unknown and all alone, lose the kind that are behind

to start a new play by myself and to give the best I have

I'm playing the game

the one that will take me to my end

I'm waiting for the rain

to wash up who I am

I'm playing the game

Vacation Recap: Union Pier and New Buffalo, Michigan

postado por Luanadk em 16/09/2009

Last week, Josh and I joined my parents at a small cottage (a now annual tradition for the family) on the lake in Union Pier, Michigan, just a short drive from downtown Chicago, but a million miles away conceptually. We spent the week lazing around, with a little golf, beach walks, wave riding, and lots of eating in between.
Most of the eating we did was at the cottage itself, with my Mom and I switching off nights in charge of preparing dinner. We certainly had no shortage of food or drink, and were able to enjoy some of the freshest produce of the late summer season. The grill was well-utilized, especially once we realized just how hot the kitchen would get with the oven on!

One day, however, we did venture out (it was raining, and thus we were not able to go to the beach) and explore some of the area's establishments. We started off in the late morning and found our way to the Round Barn winery around noon. Round Barn is one of the local wineries on the wine trail, and they also own the sister winery Free Run, not too far away.

Round Barn has some really nice wines to try, in addition to a vodka (DiVine Vodka, voted "The Best" vodka in a January 07 tasting by Chicago Magazine that included Grey Goose and Kettle One vodkas) made from grapes, and even some beer! For $5 / couple, you can try five of their wines, including a dessert wine, as well as their vodka. Not too shabby... We ended up walking out with 6 bottles and a bottle of vodka, including some of our favorites: The dry Gewurztraminer, the Chardonnay, and the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery itself is gorgeous, as you can see from my pictures, and on weekends you can lunch at the cafe.

Since it was a Tuesday, we had to seek elsewhere for our midday meal. Josh had heard of Redamak's from friends at work - the best burgers around, apparently. So, we had to give it a shot. We'd driven by the restaurant a couple of times over the weekend and noticed the place to be totally packed (it must be good then, right?). Thankfully, we were able to sit right down. They boast a huge menu of grill fare, but the burgers are what they're famous for, which you can get in single, double or triple stacks. They come topped with onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard and cheese, if you desire, with curly fries on the side. Josh - a true burger aficianado - proclaimed them indeed some of the best burgers he'd eaten, so I guarantee you won't be disappointed! Mom and I noted that if we had been there for dinner, we would have started out with the fried "veggies" - deep fried broccoli, cauliflower and mushrooms with various dipping sauces! (Note: this place is not exactly "heart healthy"!)

Unfortunately, we were too stuffed to squeeze in a trip to Oink's, the New Buffalo local ice cream and frozen yogurt shop, but I've only heard lovely things. We did stop at the farmers market, however, on the way back to the cottage to buy some tomatoes and green beans... You know, to make up for the 1/2 lb. of beef we'd all just devoured!

 In My Life>> The Beatles

There are places I remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose thier meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more...

Open Letter to the Stupid Hippy Who Broke Into My Car 12 Years Ago

postado por Luanadk em 18/08/2009

Dear Stupid Hippy Who Broke Into My Car 12 Years Ago,

A little while back my friend Lydia posted some letters folks wrote to people who broke into their cars. And you know what, it got me thinking about you and how I never had the opportunity to say anything to you. Who am I? I’m the girl whose car you broke in to 12 years ago in order to steal my UCSC parking pass. Ringing any bells? In your awesome hippy way you thought you were paying me for it with your stupid Jerry Garcia mug that you left in the back seat. That’s right you left your dumb Jerry Garcia mug in my backseat. I bet you regret that now.

In fact I’m sure you must because that dumb mug, which was certainly not payment enough for a several hundred dollar parking pass, ended up getting you busted. Do you remember this now? At first I was going to keep your dumb mug so that I could at least have a good story to tell, or something to defend myself with next time I ran into a smelly hippy, but then the cops were able to get prints off it and it was considered “evidence.” They told me not to hold my breath because they probably wouldn’t be on file, but then what do you know, you happened to work at the University and so your prints were on file. And it also happened that my parking pass was just part of a big parking pass theft spree, and the cops were happy to break that down.

So yah, I hope it was worth it. I hope breaking into my car and giving me your dumb mug was totally worth it.

By the way, how have you been all these years? I bet you’re a stoner townie now.

xoxo,
-sabs.

Ps. I still hate the Grateful Dead, and your dumb mug sure as hell didn't make me change my mind.

Transformers LA premiere

Kim Kardashian attended the Transformers LA premiere this week and everyone was buzzing about her weight loss. Normally dropping extra poundage is a good thing but considering Kimmy’s built her career on her thick milkshake, she may want to scarf down a cheeseburger or two….

Meanwhile, her sisters are turning into sexy beasts!!  Is it me or is Courtney killing the Tiger stripes?
